RHDAustralia - Where it all began with Professor Jonathan Carapetis
As the first Director of RHDAustralia, Professor Jonathan Carapetis talks about, how more than a decade ago, a group of researchers and clinicians got together to establish a national strategy to control rheumatic heart disease in Australia.
Now, as the Director of Telethon Kids Institute and Co-Chair of END RHD he shares what's been achieved over the past 10 years and what still needs to be done to eliminate rheumatic heart disease in Australia.
RHDAustralia since 2009
Rheumatic Heart Disease Australia is an initiative of Menzies School of Health Research and is funded by the Commonwealth Government. Since 2009, RHDAustralia has been working with health professionals and alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and other at risk populations, to reduce acute rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease in Australia.
